ECO Label Certified
Sustainable Stay at Hotel Fevery
Green Key and EU Ecolabel certified – Sustainability Without Compromising Comfort
Hotel Fevery is a small, family-run hotel in the historic centre of Bruges. Sustainability has been an integral part of the way we operate for many years.
On 17 December 2009, we became the first hotel in Belgium to receive the European Ecolabel. On 29 April 2010, we became the first hotel in Bruges to be awarded the Green Key certification.
Both Green Key and the EU Ecolabel are internationally recognised sustainability certifications for tourism businesses. They are based on strict criteria covering areas such as energy and water consumption, waste, food, mobility, cleaning and guest involvement.
For us, sustainable business mainly means using what we have responsibly, without compromising the comfort of our guests.
Energy
We aim to keep our energy consumption as low as possible by using energy-efficient technologies and efficient heating and lighting systems.
In addition to purchasing 100% green electricity from Engie, our solar panels and batteries are an important asset. On sunny days, they allow us to generate all the electricity we need ourselves, making us completely energy-independent.
We monitor our energy consumption and continuously look for ways to further reduce our environmental impact.
You can help too:
- Switch off the lights when you leave your room.
- Do not leave windows open when the heating is on.
- Use heating and air conditioning responsibly.
Small efforts by many guests can make a big difference together.
Water
Water is a precious resource. That is why we pay particular attention to reducing water consumption at Hotel Fevery.
Our rooms are equipped with water-saving technologies, including aerators on taps, showers with flow restrictors and toilets with dual-flush/stop systems (3–6 litres). We also monitor our water consumption.
You can help here too:
- Do not leave the tap running unnecessarily.
- A short shower uses considerably less water than a long bath.
- Reuse your towels when this is not a problem for you.
Less Waste
The best waste is the waste we never produce.
That is why we try to prevent waste at Hotel Fevery and use materials as consciously as possible. Where possible, waste is sorted, and we limit the use of unnecessary disposable packaging.
We also try to minimise food waste during breakfast.
You can help us by sorting your waste correctly and using food and other materials responsibly.
The bathroom waste bin has two compartments: one for PMD and organic waste, and one for non-recyclable waste.
A Conscious Breakfast
A good breakfast is an important part of a stay in Bruges. At the same time, we believe it is important to make conscious choices when selecting our breakfast products.
Where possible, we choose local, organic and Fairtrade products.
In this way, we want to offer our guests a delicious breakfast while also considering where our products come from and the impact of our purchases.
We serve bread from a local bakery and toppings and cold cuts from Belgium.
Have you had enough to eat? Then please take a smaller portion and feel free to come back for a second helping.
Together, we can avoid unnecessary food waste.
Sustainable Cleaning
We also try to minimise our environmental impact when cleaning and maintaining the hotel.
We use water, energy and cleaning products responsibly and look for solutions that combine good hygiene with the lowest possible environmental impact.
All our cleaning products are eco-certified and are therefore also gentle on the hands of our housekeeping staff.
Discover Bruges on Foot or by Bicycle
Hotel Fevery is located within the historic city walls of Bruges. Many of the city's main attractions are within walking distance.
For trips outside the city centre, you can use public transport or travel by bicycle.
Bruges railway station is easily accessible by bus 2, with the bus stop located approximately 150 metres from the hotel.
We have a garage where you can safely store your bicycle, subject to available space.
Our tip: leave the car behind and discover Bruges on foot, by bicycle or by public transport.
Together with Our Guests
Sustainability is not the responsibility of the hotel alone. Our guests can also make an important contribution.
That is why we provide simple eco-tips throughout the hotel and inform our guests about ways to make their stay as sustainable as possible.
You do not have to give up comfort to do so. Often, it is the small choices that make a difference:
less water, less energy, less waste and more conscious enjoyment of everything Bruges has to offer.
Local and Conscious
As a small family-run hotel, we believe it is important to remain connected to our local community.
We encourage our guests to discover Bruges, support local businesses and choose local products and activities.
In this way, a stay with us contributes to a more sustainable tourism sector while also supporting the local economy.
Our Commitment
Sustainability is not a temporary trend for us. It has been part of Hotel Fevery since 2009.
We therefore continue to evaluate the way we operate, monitor our energy and water consumption and look for opportunities to further reduce our environmental impact.
Green Key and the EU Ecolabel help us continuously improve our efforts and communicate transparently with our guests about our sustainability initiatives.
Thank you for choosing, together with us, a more sustainable stay.
